Bimblebox 153 Birds is a unique installation of artist prints, poetry, prose and musician’s birdcall compositions by over 440 people worldwide who have been inspired by the birdlife of the Bimblebox Nature Refuge. It’s been shown in South East Queensland and people love it. It is now time to take it further! Let’s get Bimblebox 153 Birds tour ready and out to Art Galleries across Australia.
Bimblebox 153 Birds is a fabulous exhibition about Australian birds, but it is also an important exhibition. The bird species depicted have all been identified as living on the Bimblebox Nature Refuge. Bimblebox is an 8000 hectare property, the majority of which has never been cleared. The original woodland, heathland and its underground water reserves, make this place a dynamic biodiverse habitat. However Bimblebox Nature Refuge, the home to at least 157 bird species and countless other animals and plants, is threatened by multiple coal mine developments around it and through it. The Bimblebox Nature Refuge is situated in Central Queensland’s Galilee Basin and while it is protected from most development, it is NOT protected from coal mining.
All the Bimblebox birds that have inspired these artworks, poetry, prose and musical compositions are in danger of losing their home. Help me get Bimblebox 153 Birds to galleries across Australia!
