The Bimblebox art, science, nature camp was held 27 August to 4 September 2023. The camp participants not only worked hard on their chosen endeavours, but also enjoyed themselves immensely. Everyone gained a deeper understanding of the Bimblebox Nature Refuge during the flora and fauna orientation by Eric Anderson and Diana O’Connor. While Paola’s and Susan’s excellent cooking fed and nurtured every-body throughout the week.

After the Bimblebox art, science, nature camp, two exhibitions of artwork inspired by their experience of the Bimblebox Nature Refuge, were organised by several of the 2023 camp participants. A huge thank you to all those involved.

Where Two Things Meet, 2023, Peta Lloyd, Sally North, Nanette Balchin, 3 – 19 November 2023, Fig Tree Galleries, Yeppoon, Qld.

This year, instead of photos and anecdotes, we have a video created by Malcolm Paterson. This video looks at the Bimblebox art, science, nature camp through the eyes and hands of artists Bronwyn McKean and Peter McLean.

Thank you to all our volunteers who helped set up the camp and kept it running smoothly. Thank you to Eric Anderson and Diana O’Connor for sharing their knowledge of the flora and fauna of the Bimblebox Nature Refuge. Thank you to Malcolm Paterson for his excellent documentation of the camp through photos and video.
